2021 • High Sierras

March 12, 2021 to March 16, 2021

Towards the end of the lockdown era during the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to take a trip up to the High Sierras and Mammoth Mountain in particular. With most of the activities being outside and everyone going on the trip being in my COVID bubble, there was minimal risk. Anyway, from Monterey County, I made my way to the Central Valley, drove over Carson Pass to get to Highway 395, and then turned south to Mammoth. As always in the Sierras, the scenery was beautiful, and it was nice to enjoy the great outdoors. Because it was in the middle of the school year, I still had to run my Zoom classes, though! Little did any of my students know that I was running class from Mammoth. While I was there, Monterey County was also dropped out of the purple range for our COVID risk, meaning schools could reopen in just a few weeks. After returning home, I went to my classroom to prepare it to have students for the first time in over a year!
