Towards the end of my Spring Break trip, I had to stop in Paris before heading back to England. This city is the beating heart of France and France wouldn’t be, well, France without Paris. Like Rome, where you find something historically significant around every corner, around every corner in Paris is something culturally significant—that is often historically significant as well. While in Paris, I had the opportunity to visit all of the standard landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Arc de Triomphe. For me, however, the most awe-inspiring place I visited wasn’t even in Paris at all! It was the Château de Versailles just outside of the city. Originally a hunting lodge, King Louis XIV built Versailles to demonstrate the wealth and power of the crown, and by extension, France.
